Um 9 Uhr
traf ich wie abgesprochen bei meiner Tochter Melanie in Hunzenschwil ein, die
mich an den Flughafen Zürich brachte. Es hatte fast keinen Verkehr unterwegs,
so dass wir meinen Koffer schon um 9:40 Uhr abgegeben hatten und auf Nadine
warteten. Sie traf pünktlich um 10 Uhr mit ihrem Vater ein, wir gaben ihren
Koffer auf und verabschiedeten uns von unseren Lieben… : (
I arrived at Melanie’s apartment in Hunzenschwil at 9 am as agreed upon and my daughter drove me to the airport in Zürich. As there was no traffic on the roads we had dropped off my suitcase already at 9:40 am and thus were waiting for Nadine. She arrive exactly at 10 am with her dad, we dropped off her suitcase and said goodbye to our loves… : (

Es war
bereits eine halbe Stunde Verspätung für unseren Flug angekündigt, aber bis wir
dann endlich starteten, waren es 1 ½ Stunden später… und wie befürchtet
verpassten wir unseren Anschlussflug nach Terceira um 10 Minuten! An der
Information erhielten wir einen neuen Boardingpass für den nächsten Flug, der
um 18:20 Uhr starten würde, und wir verbrachten die Zeit am Flughafen bei einem
Essen und im Internet.
A delay of half an hour was already announced but until we finally took off it was 1 ½ hours later… so, as we had feared, we missed our connection flight to Terceira by 10 minutes! At the information we received a new boarding pass for the next flight, which would leave at 6:20 pm, and we passed our time at the airport with a small meal and in the internet.

Pünktlich
starteten wir unseren 2 ½ Stunden Flug nach Terceira und dieser ging wirklich
vorbei wie im Flug, da wir beide eine geschlagene Stunde in tiefem Schlaf
versanken… Wir landeten um 20 Uhr, holten unser Gepäck und fuhren mit einem
Taxi zum 5 km entfernten Hotel Atlantida Mar (http://www.atlantidamarhotel.com) in
Praia da Vitòria, das wir für 3 Nächte gebucht hatten. Wir stellten unser
Gepäck ins Zimmer und machten uns gleich auf den Weg dem Meer entlang ins Dorf
um etwas essen zu gehen. Wir entschieden uns fürs Restaurant Garça und assen
unseren ersten Fisch auf der Terrasse mit Sicht auf den kleinen Hafen. Um 23
Uhr trafen wir todmüde im Hotel ein und freuten uns auf eine erholsame Nacht um
morgen in aller Ruhe unsere nächsten Tage hier auf den Azoren zu planen…

Punctually we finally took off and our 2 ½ hours flight elapsed very fast
as we both fell asleep for an hour… We landed at 8 pm, picked up our luggage
and drove 5 km by taxi to the Hotel Atlantida Mar (http://www.atlantidamarhotel.com) in Praia da Vitòria, which we had booked for 3 nights. We put our
luggage into our room and only minutes later we were walking along the coast to
the village to have dinner somewhere. We went for the restaurant Garça and had
our first fish on the terrace overlooking the little port. At 11 pm we arrived
back at the hotel and very tired we were looking forward to a restful night and
planning our next days here on the Azores tomorrow…
