Heute
Morgen mussten wir nicht stressen, denn die Ariel würde erst um 11:15 ab Lajes
nach Corvo wegfahren, eine halbe Stunde vorher muss man vor Ort sein und
gestern Abend haben wir auf dem Rückweg die Zeit gestoppt: 20 Minuten! Wir
fuhren also um 10 Uhr gemütlich ins Städtchen um Nadines Ticket abzuholen (sie
hat sogar Sonderkonditionen beim Umbuchen: Unter 30-Jährige können eine Karte
für EUR 48 kaufen, danach ist jede Schifffahrt EUR 5, und das ist 1 Jahr
gültig!) und dort wurde uns eröffnet, dass unsere Schifffahrt nach Corvo wegen
schlechtem Wetter abgesagt war... Es war zwar bewölkt und hatte in der Früh
stark geregnet, aber sonst sah es gar nicht so schlimm aus…
This morning we had lots of time, as Ariel would leave Lajes to Corvo only at 11:15 am, we had to be there half an hour before and last night we had stopped the time on our way back to the hotel: 20 minutes! So we left at 10 am for town to pick up Nadine’s ticket (she has even special conditions when changing a ticket: Under 30 years old only pay EUR 48 for a card and thereafter EUR 5 for each navigation, valid 1 year!), where we were told that our navigation to Corvo was cancelled due to bad weather… Indeed it was overcast and had rained heavily early this morning but right now it didn’t look bad at all…

Nun
steckten wir unsere Köpfe zusammen um eine Planänderung vorzunehmen: Ich hatte
Lust auf die spektakuläre Wanderung an der Westküste, Nadine bevorzugte den
Pool... So fuhr ich nach Porta da Faja, parkierte das Auto bei der Kirche und
wanderte 1 1/2 Stunden der Steilklippe entlang Richtung Norden und dann wieder
etwa gleich lange zurück über weiss nicht wie viele Flüsschen. Leider nieselte
es ab und zu und die Sicht war auch nicht die beste! : (
Ich traf so um 16 Uhr zurück im Hotel ein und das Wetter verschlechterte sich jede Minute: Es
regnete nicht nur sondern der starke Wind wehte ganze Stapeln von Stühlen über
die Terrasse! Ich ging unter die wohlverdiente Dusche und Nadine in die
Massage, danach war ich dran und döste ein, so erholsam war sie!
Um 20 Uhr
trafen wir uns im Hotelrestaurant, wo fast alle Tische besetzt waren aber es
hatte nur einen Kellner im Service! Als wir endlich nach einer halben Stunde
bestellen durften und ich abschätzen konnte wie lange es gehen würde bis wir
das Essen erhalten würden, ging ich an die Reception und erklärte die Lage...
natürlich kam zuerst einfach ein Vorwand, dass viel Personal im Urlaub sei! -
In der Hauptsaison??? Schlussendlich hat es doch noch gewirkt und die
Receptionistin kam zu Hilfe bis ein weiterer Angestellter auftauchte, der sehr
wahrscheinlich aus der Siesta gerissen worden war.... Das Essen war übrigens
super!

Now we had to make new plans: I liked to do a spectacular hike on the west coast, Nadine preferred the pool… So I drove to Porta da Faja, parked the car near the church and walked up a steep cliff direction north for 1 ½ hour and then back again over lots of little rivers. Unfortunately it was drizzling from time to time and the view wasn’t really the best! : (
I arrived back at the hotel around 4 pm and the weather got worse every minute:
It wasn’t only raining but the wind blew whole piles of chairs across the
terrace! I had a well-deserved shower and Nadine went to the massage,
thereafter it was my turn and I snoozed off, it was that relaxing!
At 8 pm we met in the hotel restaurant, where almost all tables were
taken but only one waiter was serving! When we finally were able to order after
half an hour and I had estimated how long it would take until we get our food,
I went to the reception to explain the situation… of course first there was a
pretence that lot of the employees were on vacation! – In the high season??? My
efforts took effect at the end and the receptionist came to hand until another
waiter showed up, who seemed to have been torn out of his siesta… By the way, our dinner was
excellent!
