Heute Morgen
erwachten wir relativ früh und noch vor dem Frühstück schrieb ich für meinen
Blog und Nadine reservierte ein Hotel in Ponta Delgada auf Sao Miguel. Das
Frühstücksbuffet hier im Hotel Atlantida Mar ist übrigens sensationell: Neben
vielen mundgerecht zugeschnittenen frischen Früchten gibt es fast alles, was
das Herz begehrt!
Um 11 Uhr
machten wir uns auf in die Stadt zum Reisebüro um uns für Flüge zwischen den
Inseln zu informieren… bald war uns schon klar, dass es besser war uns direkt
an den Flughafen zur SATA zu begeben, wo wir auch bestens beraten wurden und
uns für EUR 82 ein Flug von Santa Maria (im Südosten) nach Flores (im
Nordwesten) reserviert wurde! Nun müssen wir nur noch eine Fähre von Sao Miguel
nach Santa Maria buchen… Es ist einfach unglaublich, wie nett und zuvorkommend
die Leute hier sind - ausnahmslos alle!
We awoke relatively early this morning and yet before breakfast I wrote for my blog and Nadine reserved a hotel in Ponta Delgada on the island of Sao Miguel. By the way, the breakfast buffet here at the Hotel Atlantida Mar is just great: Apart from all kinds of bite-sized fresh fruits there is almost everything the heart desires!
At 11 am we drove into town to a travel agency to inform ourselves about flights between the islands… very soon we became aware that it was a better idea to go directly to SATA at the airport where we got advised very well and a flight from Santa Maria (in the southeast) to Flores (in the northwest) was reserved for us for only EUR 82! All that is left to do now is to book a ferry from Sao Miguel to Santa Maria… It is incredible how nice and attentive the people are here – with no exceptions!

Danach
starteten wir unsere Rundfahrt um die Insel und machten unseren ersten Halt in
Quatro Ribeiras, wo wir den ersten Heiliggeisttempel bestaunten! Eine Stunde
später, um 14 Uhr, kamen wir in Biscoitos an und da die Sonne inzwischen die
Wolken verdrängt hatte, sonnten und badeten wir in den Piscinas Naturais und
genossen die atemberaubende Kulisse…
Thereafter we started our trip around the island and made our first stop in Quatro Ribeiras, where we marveled at the first Holy Ghost temple! An hour later, around 2 pm, we arrived at Biscoitos, and as the clouds had given way to the sun in the meantime, we suntanned and swam in the Piscina Naturais and enjoyed the breathtaking setting…

Gut
ausgeruht besuchten wir danach den Aussichtsgipfel Matias Simao, den
Heiliggeisttempel und die Kirche in Altares, den Aussichtspunkt Miradouro de
Raminho, fuhren durch das Waldgebiet Mata da Serreta mit Sicheltannen und Eukalyptusbäumen
und zum Ponta do Queimado. In Santa Barbara und Sao Bartolomeu passierten wir weitere Heiliggeisttempel,
kamen in Hafen von Sao Mateus da Calheta vorbei und machten schliesslich einen
Halt in der Inselhauptstadt Angra do Heroismo um durch das Welkulturerbe der
UNESCO zu schlendern.
Well rested we visited thereafter the lookout Matias Somao, another Holy Ghost temple and the church of Alteras, the viewpoint Miradouro de Raminho and drove through the forest Mata da Serreta with Japanese cedars and eucalyptus trees to Ponta do Quiemado. In Santa Barbara and Sao Bartolomeu we passed another Holy Ghost temple, drove by the port of Sao Mateus da Calheta and finally stopped in the capital Angra do Heroismo to walk through the UNESCO world heritage cultural site.

Wir
entschlossen uns aber uns auf den Rückweg nach Praia da Vitoria zu machen,
fuhren an den Ilheus das Cabras, zwei riesigen Lavaklötzen, vorbei und fanden
schliesslich in Porto Martins ‘unser‘ Restaurant: Das hübsch gelegene Buzius,
wo wir einen Weisswein aus Pico (Azoren) und Scampi genossen… So ging ein
wunderschöner Tag mit vielen verschiedenen Eindrücken zu Ende!

But we decided to drive on back to Praia da Vitoria and passed the
Ilheus das Cabras, two gigantic lava blocks, before we found ‘our’ restaurant:
The picturesque situated Buzius where we enjoyed a white wine from Pico
(Azores) and king prawns… That’s how a wonderful day with lots of different
impressions ended!
