Kein
Wölkchen war zu erkennen heute Morgen als wir aufwachten – spätestens jetzt
wussten wir, woher das Azorenhoch kommt! So war nach dem Frühstück eine Stunde
an der Sonne am Pool angesagt, danach packten wir unsere sieben(tausend) Sachen,
checkten aus und machten uns auf den Weg zum Golfplatz…
There was not a cloud to see in the morning when we woke up – at least now we knew where the high of the Azores comes from! Another wonderful morning to relax at the pool for an hour after breakfast, then we packed our belongings, checked out and took the road to the golf course…

Kurz vor 13 Uhr kamen wir am Golf Ilha Teceira an und wie fast überall (ausser in der Schweiz) fragte niemand nach einem Handicap geschweige denn einer Golfkarte, sondern waren einfach glücklich uns bei sich zu haben! Wir mussten sogar nur einen Golfbag mieten, das Besteck wurde jedoch auf zwei aufgeteilt, einfach nur um uns ein paar Euro zu sparen! Bevor es auf den wunderschönen 18-Loch Platz ging, tranken wir einen Espresso auf der Terrasse, kauften Tees und Bälle ein und dann legten wir los!
Shortly before 1 pm we arrived at the Golf Ilha Terceira and like almost everywhere in the world (except in Switzerland) nobody was interested in a handicap or a golf card but just was happy to have us with them! We also had to rent one golf bag only but they put the clubs in two, just to save us some Euros! Before we started the beautiful 18 hole course we had an espresso on the terrace, bought some tees and balls and then we kicked off!

Um 16:30
Uhr hatten wir die 18 Loch geschafft und genehmigten uns einen Drink auf der
Terrasse. Eine Stunde später fuhren wir zum Hotel zurück um unser Gepäck
aufzuladen und dann an den Hafen, wo wir unser Mietauto zurückgaben und an Bord
der Hellenic Wind gingen. Als wir dort mit unserem Gepäck auftauchten, kam
gleich jemand, der es auf einen Wagen ins Schiff transportierte und die
Kontrolleurin schoss mit Vergnügen Fotos von uns!
At 4:30 pm we had finished the 18 holes and enjoyed a drink on the terrace. An hour later we drove back to the hotel to pick up our luggage and then to the harbour where our rental car was collected and we went on board of the Hellenic Wind. When we got there with all our suitcases someone came to pick it up and transport it into the vessel and the ticket inspector took pictures of us with pleasure!

Pünktlich
um 19:15 Uhr lichteten wir die Anker und los ging es Richtung Sao Miguel! Ein
Hüngerchen trieb uns ins Restaurant, aber die hatten nicht wirklich etwas
Leckeres für uns… wir bestellten eine Gemüsesuppe und der Gepäckträger von
vorher füllte uns 2 Gläser mit Wein aus Pico mit einem Riesenlächeln – auch
hier wieder: Die Leute sind so zufrieden und glücklich, wenn sie einem eine
Freude machen können! Kurze Zeit später holte uns der Gepäckträger und führte
und auf die Brücke: Der Kapitän Yannis feierte gerade seinen 36. Geburtstag und
wir wurden freundlich dazu eingeladen das Kommando zu übernehmen! ; )
Nach
einer 3 ½ stündigen kurzweiligen Fahrt kamen wir um 22:45 Uhr im Hafen von
Ponta Delgada an, schnappten uns ein Taxi und fuhren zum VIP Executive Azores Hotel,
das wir für 2 Nächte gebucht hatten und leider kein Vergleich zum Atlantida Mar
auf Terceiras ist… aber was soll es, wir machen das Beste daraus und werden morgen
ja schon mit einem Mietauto die ganze Insel auskundschaften…

Exactly at 7:15 pm the anchor was hoisted and
we took off direction Sao Miguel! A kind of hunger made us go to the
restaurant, but there wasn’t really anything we went crazy for… we ordered a
vegetable soup and the baggage porter from before filled
two glasses with wine from Pico with a huge smile – here again: People are just
happy if they can do a favour to you! A bit later he came to us and led us to
the navigating bridge: Yannis, the captain, celebrated his 36th birthday
and we were warmly invited to take over the command! ; )
After an entertaining 3 ½ hours navigation at 10:45 pm we arrived at
Ponta Delgada, took a taxi and drove to the VIP Executive Azores Hotel, which we
had booked for 2 nights and which unfortunately isn’t half as nice as the
Atlantida Mar on Terceira… but we will make the best of it and already tomorrow
we will be cruising around and exploring the island by car…
