18.07.2012 Sao Miguel – Santa Maria

Heute Morgen nach dem Frühstück stand wieder einmal Packen auf dem Programm... Wir buchten noch das Hotel auf der Insel Flores und kurz nach 11 Uhr checkten wir aus. Danach fuhren wir die 12 km quer durch die Insel von Capelas an der Nordküste nach Ponta Delgada an die Südküste. Wir tankten unterwegs noch und trafen um 12 Uhr Antonio von Flor do Norte Autovermietung an der Marina. Er nahm das Auto entgegen und wir checkten bei der Atlanticoline ein. Eduardo, der Gepäckträger, erwartete uns schon mit seinem Riesenlächeln und ich übergab ihm eine Schweizer Schoggi, die ich diesmal im Handgepäck verstaut hatte! Wenig später gingen wir an Bord der Hellenic Wind, wo wir von Stelios und Yannis begrüsst wurden.

After breakfast, packing was once again next up on our agenda… We booked our hotel on the island of Flores and a bit after 11 pm we checked out. Thereafter we drove the 12 km across the island from Capelas on the north coast to Ponta Delgada on the south coast. On the way we fuelled the car and met Antonio of Flor do Norte rent-a-car at the marina. He took over ‘our’ car and we checked in at Atlanticoline. Eduardo, the luggage porter, awaited us already with his big smile and I gave him a Swiss chocolate bar, which I had put into my hand luggage this time! Some minutes later we went aboard of the Hellenic Wind, where Stelios and Yannis gave us a warm welcome.

Um 13:15 lichteten wir die Anker und die ganze Fahrt durften wir auf der Brücke verbringen! Wir lernten auch den ‘Oberkapitän‘ und Philosophen Apostolos kennen... es war eine superinteressante und kurzweilige Fahrt mit sehr tiefgründigen Gesprächen und einem Lunch am Käptenstisch…

Nach 2 ¼ Stunden Fahrt fuhren wir um 15:30 Uhr im Hafen Vila do Porto von Santa Marina ein, holten unser Gepäck vom Band und auf der Suche nach einem Taxi bot ein amerikanisches Ehepaar uns an mit ihnen mitzufahren… David ist ursprünglich von hier und die beiden verbringen (zum ersten Mal ohne Kinder) ganze 6 Wochen auf dieser kleinen Insel! Wir wurden im Hotel Colombo (www.colombo-hotel.com) ausgeladen und ich wurde so nochmals 2 Tafeln Schokolade los! ; )

At 1:15 pm we hoisted anchor and we were allowed to stay on the bridge during the whole navigation! We also got to know the chief captain and philosopher Apostolos… it was an utmost interesting and entertaining boat trip with very profound conversations and a lunch at the captain’s table…

After 2 ¼ hours navigation we entered the port of Vila do Porto of Santa Marina at 3:30 pm, collected our luggage and when we were looking for a taxi, an American couple invited us to drive with them… David originally is from here and they spend (for the first time without their kids) entire 6 weeks on this little island! We were dropped off at the Hotel Colombo (www.colombo-hotel.com) and so I got rid of another two chocolate bars! ; )

Central Pub, Vila do Porto

Nachdem wir eingecheckt und bemerkt hatten, dass wir uns so ziemlich abseits vom Schuss befanden, bestellten wir auf 18 Uhr einen Mietwagen und legten uns für eine Stunde bei schönstem Wetter am Pool aufs Ohr... Um 18 wurde uns ein niegelnagelneuer Peugeot 107 überreicht – nun sind wir wieder frei und unabhängig, yeahhh! Wir gingen kurz das Nötigste einkaufen und liessen uns dann im Central Pub nieder um unter anderem zu ‘arbeiten‘.

When we had checked in and noticed that we were slightly away from the happenings, we ordered a rental car for 6 pm and dozed off at the pool for an hour with pure sunshine… At 6 pm a brand new Peugeot 107 was delivered for us –now we are free and independent again, yeahhh! We went shopping for the necessities and thereafter established ourselves at the Central Pub ‘to work’among other things.
